- Photomechanical images in two contrasting colors, such as red and green. Printed either as a pair of images or as one image superimposed on the other but slightly out of registry. When viewed through a pair of lenses, each in the appropriate different color, a three-dimensional effect is created. Introduced in 1891; popular during the 1920s.
